Over the last year at AffPlaybook we ran three SEO challenges where we took 6 weeks and built out any crazy, sensible or otherwise creative seo campaign ideas. Now that the Christmas shopping season is in full blast I’m glad we did those SEO series. About 6 of the sites I built were targeting products that sell well on Amazon and are currently doing sales of about $1k/day across all the sites.

Let’s admit it, SEO isn’t the sexiest traffic source online. It does not come fast and furious, it’s not new and it’s every bit as challenging as paid traffic. The draw here is obviously the allure of hands free traffic… free traffic, well converting traffic, that quietly makes you commissions while you work on other things. In fact, NOT having to babysit campaigns is the number one most attractive part of using SEO as a legit campaign building traffic source.

So looking back over the last year, my only regret is that I didn’t build out 10 times the amazon sites that I did for if I did, I’d be looking at 10k gross sales days on Amazon and that IS motivating. It’s that goal that I’ll be bringing into the next “6 Weeks Of SEO” series that we are doing in AffPlaybook.com come January 2nd 2012.

It’s indisputable, the value created from sites built in each one of the 3 SEO challenges is huge. These are assets that are generating income today and building value for tomorrow. Unlike a lot of churn and burn style paid campaigns, the time you put into building a REAL website is an INVESTMENT in your business.

So moving into 2012, start thinking about all the campaings you built in 2011. How many of those campaings are still around making you money?

If you didn’t allocate at least 1/3 of your campaign building time to expanding your online asset portfolio last year, rethink your strategy for 2012 and seriously consider put more time into SEO. There’s still a boat load of virtual real estate out there that is only one Exact Match Domain name away and it can mean thousands of dollars to your bottom line.
