Pop This! generated page

Pop This! generated PPV landing page

Wednesday night’s webinar with Jon Volk, David Ford and myself turned out to be one of the best yet. Well over 300 users showed up ready to learn about cost per view traffic and came armed with some of the best questions we have heard to date.

Aside from David talking about his $27,287 paid traffic campaign, we also unveiled my new favorite tool called ‘Pop This!’, a PPV specific landing page generator. Pop This! takes a standard network banner and builds a PPV ready pop lander around it in seconds. This tool is so easy to use it’s sick and it’ll only get better as I get time to code more features into it.

If you want to check out he webinar stream or download it I just posted it here: http://www.ppv123.com/how-to-PPV .

What is NOT Contextual or DLS traffic

Posted by: Corey | Comments (2)

This month I have been asking experienced affiliate marketers and network affiiate managers alike exactly what is Contextual or Downloadable Software Traffic.

First off this type of traffic usually comes from PPV or Adware type of Pop Ups and Pop Unders. The networks that allow contextual or DLS have a very limited number of offers for this type of traffic. The reason they don’t want you running direct PPV traffic to their offers w/o a contextual link is it throws off their stats. For every impression that you get, that equals one click. If they are trying to get a bead on CTR, if you send them 10,000 impressions at a .5% conversion rate you can see how this would really mess up how good a particular offer looks statistically.

So that brings me to the topic of using landing pages for your PPV traffic. It’s always been my opinion that traffic sent to an offer from any URL that you own and is hosted on your server is website or banner traffic. The network shouldn’t care where you get the traffic from because all the impressions are registering on your site, not their offer.

Sending PPV traffic to your landing page then on to the offer is website traffic, not contextual or DLS traffic in my opinion so I took this to a few of my affiliate managers and other affiliate marketers. With about 99% certainty they all confirmed that PPV traffic that is sent to a landing page and on to the offer is regular website traffic.

This of course does not apply to offers that you iFrame.

You will also want to double check with your network manager but the general consensus seems to be that you can run any traffic to a lander and be w/in the TOS on offers that accept search and banner traffic.

If your experience has been different, I’m interested in hearing exactly what yours has been.

If you would like to hear more about PPV traffic, join us for a free webinar sponsored by Jon Volk. David Ford from PPV Playbook Coaching Forum and I will be presenting a high level overview of PPV Traffic, using PPV landers and doing a Q&A session at the end. PPV keyword lists easy as 1-2-3

Posted by: Corey | Comments (2)

I’ve been working on updates recently to the AffPortal User Interface that are pretty sweet. I added a keyword basket that can help shuffle your keyword URLs from tool to tool so you can E X P A N D your url list SERIOUSLY fast.

AffPortal_Update_1-27-10I suggest the following course of action for your list erection:

1. Open the Deep and Wide keyword tool and grab an initial list of about 10 wide keywords

2. Export them to the Batch URL Scraper and scrape two pages deep using the replace periods options and download your initial URL list to a spreadsheet

3. Check off the top 20 keywords and click “Send Clicked to Site Extractor” to gather other indexed pages for each of these 20 domain names. Download the list and add it to your spreadsheet

4. Click your browser back button to back up to the Batch URL Scraper results and “Send Checked to URL Chopper”. Submit, download and copy to your spreadsheet.

5. Click your browser back button to back up to the Batch URL Scraper results and then “Send checked to URL Shrink”. Submit, download and copy to your spreadsheet.

You will wind up with an insane list in the thousands easily of URLs and with a ton of variations and portions of each.

NOTE: not all URLs and chopped keywords will bring traffic but test the list and see what DOES get traffic based on the PPV traffic source you are using. Different sources match your keywords different ways. Just like PPC they can use Broad, Phrase or Exact and sometimes, if you know your manager real well, they can set your account up with any of these options.

The key here is volume. The faster you launch with enormous lists, the more winners you will find. It’s just a matter of time and a little bit of cash. Soon you will find the winners converting on the oddest combinations of URLs and keywords and you will find yourself in the BLACK.

Go get yourself some keywords…

New PPV Network Update 11/25/09

Posted by: Corey | Comments (7)

<updated 11/26/09>

I talked to my friend Matt, owner of the up and coming PPV network, and he said that we would be good to go on Friday morning so keep an eye out for the email to the AffPortal users list.

Here’s some more information about the new PPV network and some very interesting details.

  1. AffPortal.com members now have an exclusive access package, unavailable to anyone else.
  2. This network is so new that the owner can name his advertisers off the top of his head which means there’s tons of traffic with very little competition.
  3. This network is partnering with traffic sources so quickly that they have gone from 30 dedicated servers to 60 dedicated servers to deliver popups in about 4 weeks.
  4. They currently handle over 4000 queries per second.
  5. When you register, use promo code “AffPortal” and your campaigns will automatically go to the PPV side of their ad inventory and you will get $50 in free pops.
  6. In mid December you will have access to TRUE fraction bidding. This means that you can buy ppv popups for as low as .005 cents per pop.
  7. They allow frame resizing, self starting video, embedded talking heads AND they approve exit pops… are you kidding me!

I’ll keep posting about details as I get them.

Spanking new PPV traffic source is coming

Posted by: Corey | Comments (1)

I just got off the phone with a new friend of mine that actually started his OWN ppv network and really knows how the ppv networks ACTUALLY get their traffic (not including Traffic Vance).

Anyway, these guys are serving 3500 pops per second and they have yet to throttle up. You can imagine what kind of hardware it takes to handle that volume of traffic.

Eventually I’m going to interview him and he can explain all the things he was spilling to me b/c my hand got tired madly scribbling down notes. To say the least, I’m enlightened and fully stoked.

I can confidently say that true penny pop ups are in your future if you are an AffPortal.com member. As soon as he gives me the green light, I’ll spill and you guys will be so glad I did. This is an up and coming network with very little competition for high traffic keywords that you can bid one cent on and get impressions AND they let you run almost anything. Basically a PPV marketers wet dream.

Members, stay tuned for more information.
