AffPortal is a DoFollow blog
Posted by: | CommentsThey say that you need to look at page rank as a liquid that flows from page to page and site to site. The trick is to get this SEO juice to form puddles in key places within your website that contain the keywords that you are targeting. Part of this pooling of page rank is using the attribute (not tag) rel=”nofollow” on outbound links to stop leaking page rank to sites outside of your own.
This was always frustrating to me because if I was going to add QUALITY content to someones blog through a comment post (not comment spam) it would be nice to receive a little love in return. So as I optimize this new wordpress installation at AffPortal.net I won’t be adding in the “nofollow” attribute to the comments making this a Do Follow Blog.
Comments will be moderated like they have in the past in my other blogs. Only high quality posts will be approved. High quality does not have to mean lenghty but it does mean that it adds something to the conversation. So keep the “yes I agree with that” posts to digital point and the warrior forum.
Bring something interesting you will be justly rewarded.
AffPortal Blog Moved
Posted by: | CommentsI decided to move the blog to a shared linux server. The original blog was sitting on my dedicated IIS server running Windows 2008 Server with PHP enabled. YUK! What a pain in the ass it was to get working correctly and since it doesn’t have all the features that linux has, not all features of my blog worked the way they should.
So here we are. I moved all posts, installed the Flexx theme and plugged in Jeff Johnson’s “Traffic Getting SEO Plugin” for wordpress. I’m pretty stoked on it as it automatically installed about 20 different plugins and optimized my site with like 70 something settings.
So now the blog is AffPortal.net and the tools are on AffPortal.com like always. One plugin I had to include is QUICK PAGE / POST REDIRECT so I could redirect the links in the header to go to the tools site and the login screen. I’m still tweaking the flow.
Recently, I have been reading quite a bit Jeff Johnson’s product. In the Underground Traffic blah blah blah there’s some info in there that is very basic but I didn’t have to go too deep to find some interesting tweaks and techniques for getting natural traffic.
Post more later… gotta go pick up my daughter from school and kick her butt in 4 square!!! Owned.
Testing PingOmatic
Posted by: | CommentsI’m not convinced that my pingomatic install is working on this IIS server. To test it I am doing the following:
1. Create a link to http://redalt.com/ping
2. Create a trackback to http://redalt.com/ping
3. Publish the article how I normall would
4. Go to http://redalt.com/Tools/Pingomation
5. Enter the root domain (”http://www.affportal.com/”) in the text box and search the results for my domain.
Results:
RedAlt has no record of pingbacks or trackbacks from sites beginning with the submitted string.
Be sure that your URL begins with “http://”.
Solution:
Well that sucks… time to figure this one out… There’s really not much info on using pingomatic on iis with wordpress.
